Chapter Twenty

Kenzie

We walked into a brand-new Penthouse. I wandered the downstairs area that had been in bloody disarray only hours ago. Wow! If the guys weren’t here to corroborate my story, I’d think I hallucinated the entire thing. The windows were no longer shattered, there wasn’t a drop of blood anywhere, and the furniture had been replaced. Thanks to Menders the terrible smells and stains from such an altercation, were gone.

Menders were able to “mend” anything tangible, except the human body. It was interesting magic to hold. Top tier Menders could repair any structure or object. They were great for remodels and repairs. The job they did here was impressive.

The Majestic had hired Menders to do the renovations for all this. Whoever they were, I needed to get in contact with them. I imagined they could renovate my investment properties. I appreciated good, hard-working hands on, construction work, but wow, this was incredible.

Stel extended his hand to me and guided me to a sit between him and his brother on one of the couches in the living room. Erik and Brody sat opposite us. The rest of the pack stood guard near us, all except for Jason who sat on the other side of Caid, a laptop perched on his lap. A few moments later, a Majestic employee walked in as well as their CEO Tarek Gaspari. Tarek was not only the CEO, but he was also one of the majority shareholders of the corporation. He prided himself on being the face of the company. Not sure why. He wasn’t much to look at. He was five foot six, balding, soft in the middle, and had bushy eyebrows. He was decent enough if a bit egotistical. He was one of those men that insisted he was always right, even though he wasn’t, and everything and anything that was right was because of his brilliance. Quite frankly it was annoying and I personally could only tolerate short amounts of time in his presence. Today though, he had a lot to answer for.

“Mr. Reese, Mr. Reese,” he addressed the brothers shaking their hands.

Stellan introduced the crew, then I stood and shook Tarek’s hand. I knew Tarek from our real estate dealings. His family had millions of dollars and was well immersed in this town in terms of real estate and many other lucrative businesses. I didn’t give a rat’s ass to be honest. I wasn’t the fangirl type when it came to douche bags with money. In terms of magic, the family patriarch was a Tier 6 info mage, his specialty was business, which explained their wealth and success.

“Miss Mackenzie,” He shook my hand. “You caught up in this mess?”

“Considering I own half of this floor, you bet your ass I’m in the middle of this.” I sat back down on the couch. “The mess though is all on you, Tarek. This is supposed to be neutral ground. How the hell did those thugs get up here?” I asked, not even trying to sugar coat the issue.
